I still think the future of these internet companies are media related. I know others feel this way too. As for what Compaq can and cannot do with AV, I agree with you. Compaq can make AV into a powerhouse just by having AV the startup homepage. As for Yahoo's and Excite's revenue, I believe Yahoo made a profit, but Excite didn't. One has to start wondering about advertising saturation. Compaq shouldn't just spin AV off tomorrow. Compaq needs to first build it up to at least it can compete. As of now, AV needs major improvements.

Nevertheless, I feel the parts of the whole are more valuable alone than together. I think as CPQ investors we will see far more $$$ from AV if it goes public.
