BIOS Redirection

ZP

No personal experience tinkering with LX/BX mobo BIOS at this time. Everything I stated is based on BIOS and personal experience up to that point. Some newer BIOS may indeed allow the Andy/Bork switch.

I can see a number of logical reasons (and ensuing problems) not to allow it but that doesn't mean a thing. If BIOS allows you to preference the boot order without changing drive letters, what would allowing BIOS to actually change drive letters accomplish?

I might guess that the dual boot problem is an inherent DOS legacy issue. When you use either Partition Magic or NT dual boot, does this require reading from the "tradional" C Drive first? Is this what you are trying to avoid? Aren't Win and NT file schemes different enough already?
