News from Asia as of 8:00 am is continuing bad - currencies declining, equities falling, etc. I'm not aware of any primary news other than the news that Hong Kong and one or two others are now officially in trouble. But the immediate news is bad again (Hang Seng down ove 3% last night) and today should show continued weakness in the sector.

Also, unsettling news from Moody's Investors Service, which downgraded to Ba2 from Ba1 the senior secured rating of Hyundai Semiconductor America Inc.

"The downgrade reflects Moody's concerns over rising uncertainties about the effective start of commercial operation at the semiconductor fabrication line in Eugene, Oregon as well as expectations for a protracted slump in dynamic random access memory semiconductor prices (which will depress the return on investment for the project) and the weakening financial condition of certain core members of the Hyundai group which are providing financial support for the project."
