Didn't see this till now, junnie, because you didn't respond to my msg.
You need a Perl eq of a Julian calendar or somesuch. That's what I meant by '30 days has Sept...' Can't believe there isn't a lib function but haven't seen one.
I just got done converting a dB for my daughter and am all perled out ;) (Turned out it was GIGO--she processed it via excel and truncated some data.)

Checked the code I posted, junnie, and not all is well.

Win32 Perl 5.00307 responds to
-----------------------------
print "Today's julian date is:" ,&julianDate(time),"\n";
print "Returns $sec $min $hour $mday $year $wday $yday\n";
print " Day of week is: " ,&julianDate(time)%7,"\n";
$thisday = (Sun,Mon,Tue,Wed,Thu,Fri,Sat) [ (localtime)[6]];
print "Today is $thisday\n";
---------------------------------
with 156, 2, Fri. One out of 3 is marginal ;)

Ignore my last post, junnie.

The julday code returns exactly the right stuff.
-6/5/98 is $yday 156.
-$wday is julday%7, not $yday%7.
-printing subroutine values in main hasn't worked yet.
