Think you ought to cover at last closing price since that will make accounting more conservative for returns of portfolio, unless the portfolio would have taken its lumps if ICOS had soared at the open.

Rman,
the email I sent you on Sun must not have gone through. For what its worth I suggested covering at the open not at the last close. I think in general the last close is a good policy except where there is impending news thus creating an unfair advatage. I think folks on the thread thought the Rathman appearance was impending news so the open price made sense.
Sorry I didn't get back sooner but things were a little crazy at the V household.

>> Guess Rathman (the original Rman???) didn't stir things
up much afterall <<

Nah, he did exactly the opposite. I missed him on CNBC, but, from today's WSJ interactive.....

"We don't have any data to talk about right now. We don't want to talk
about something that's half done or miss something that's negative," said
Icos Chairman George Rathmann, formerly chairman of Amgen Inc. "We hope to
be recognized for what we have already accomplished not for speculation on
the future." (thanks, PB)

So.... good, today's trading can proceed on balanced reporting.

Actually, I got a second dose of innocence this morning.... I was driving my kids to school, and my daughter told me that Ginger Spice was leaving the Spice Girls, that she was going to sing with Playboy because they offered her more money.

Note.... the entire family ain't this naive. Nice short, guys!

Rocketman,
Been hitting the Boston based biotech annual mtg trail. Today was Millennium, another member of your portfolio. My advice is the same as for Sepr, do not sell. Its long term, but you guys will not freaking believe what their stated goals are for 1998 in terms of not only partnerships, but targets, screening, animal studies etc etc. We are talking some lofty goals to put it lightly. To me, this is the most impressive pure biotech out there. I do not have time to summarize this meeting properly. They are sending me a copy of their stated goals for 1998 which they presented on a few slides and which I could not keep up with in my notes. What I can do is post that here and you all can see for yourselves what is going on there.
$16 5/8 is a steal.

Jim
