Any way to stop "memory leak" in NT (short of rebooting?)

Spots or others,

After several hours of opening and closing many applications, that my 64 megs of ram get fully utilized, and I get deep into swap file use. Even shutting down all the apps doesn't get me close to original bootup memory usage (as measured by NT's task manager.)

Do you have any ideas on mitigating this problem? It causes me to have to reboot much more frequently than I would like.

Thanks,

Dave
