Check your cable co. If you can get cable modem service it appears to be a no brainer. Especially if you have a separate phone line which you will no lnger need. The cost for 100X speed is just about a wash.

Tim, <56k modem > the brand doesn't matter, as long as its 56k flex cause it's a standard, should be around $65 for a internal one.
Just make sure the manufacture has a web-site that you can upgrade to
v.90 standard later. Ex. Zoom, Jaton, etc.
