Re: "It could also mean that Intel does not need to hurry up, because AMD's competitive threat is over, and they can take their time. K6-2 is a DUD and can't go beyond 300Mhz."

Sure, Stockman, that must be it.

BTW, BT Alex Brown's downgrade of Intel estimated that the Merced delay would cost Intel $10 BILLION in lost revenue in the year 2000 alone.

That delay is going to hit Intel HARD. If you really think Intel is delaying deliberately, then I suggest you stick to trading your baseball cards or comic books or whatever and stay away from stocks. At the very least stop plugging up the thread with your nonsense.

Stockman:

Thanks to your damn Intel. They stunk the whole market. They should have shut their mouth up till early next year to release the Merced time bomb.

<<K6-2 is a DUD and can't go beyond 300Mhz. >>

AMD announced the K6-2-333.
amd.com
The reason you don't see this at www.pricewatch.com is that these chips are all bought up and will be selling in systems with 95MHz bus speed. Watch for IBM, CPQ, Acer, and CTx k6-2-333 coming soon to your nearest outlets.

<<Also the K6-2 could be WORSE than the K6 on Winstones. Am still looking for those benchmarks comparing K6 and K6-2.>>

Go read my last posts. K6-2-300 can do 1.3GFLOPs while PII-400 can do 0.4GFLOPs. Under QUAKE II K6-2-333 BEATS PII-333 by 39% at 1024x780
resolution. PII couldn't keep up at high resolution. Nobody gives a damn on Winstone. Winstone is not even a real life application. Games such as QUAKE II, Unreal, Incoming, Trespassers, etc. are real applications that should be compared. So game over bud. Anymore questions?

Stocky,
All I can divulge is that you are so far off base you just left the stadium.

S, re:<K6-2 could be WORSE than K6 on Winstones> Hehehehe, yea, right. FYI, the K6-2 also included some minor NON-3DNOW! improvements to the FPU, increasing performance on double precision divide instruction by 350% according to chiptech.com!/3D_Code_Analysis.htm

This improvement makes overall (non 3DNOW!) FPU performance increase by 3.5% compared to vanilla K6 (see POV-Ray rendering benchmark at hardware.pairnet.com Even DOS games are sped up by the FPU improvements, and they should also improve Hi-End Winbench results, if anyone ever gets around to running them.

K.Lee give it up. Let's ride the INTC jets together man. In the next few years INTC will give BigBlue a headache. There is a lot of money to be made up there in the mainframe arena. The world is not end with 300 Mz 3DNOW.

I've told you that the runways got destroyed by El Nino. Both INTC and DELL crashed today.
