Jim P., you make a good point about wasting time on SI if you're not going to trade.

I'm not going to, nor do I trade my shares in DELL. I do trade my options, but I sat on my hands on this last go around. The reason for that is that during the correction, I was unable to attend to the market to the extent that I needed to in order to trade responsibly.

Since all of my contracts are Jan 2000 calls, I figured that I may loose some GAIN, but not enough to justify selling the lot. In the end, I know I'll make a lot on them.

I did sell half of my Jan '99 calls when the stock was at 95, and I executed the other half with the proceeds from the sale. This was a good, conservative hedge in my mind. In all, I faired better than if I had just held them all.

I still believe that consideration of taxes (etc.) is very important. I have to disagree with you there. I see your reasoning, but since I'm not really a trader, it goes against my philosophy.
