Nope - other than the fact that every other tech stock is melting! The news didn't come from VCSI, but e.spire, so perhaps a lot of people didn't make the connection....

Anthony,

The 1997 Annual Report (page F-11), probably submitted to the printers in middle March of this year, states that only 10,000 shares of the 1 million share re-pruchase authorization issued in late Nov, Dec 1997 have been purchased. This share re-purchase authorization was issued to fund VCSI's employee stock option program. I can't help but think that the heavy volume in VCSI in the past several weeks was VCSI's surrogate filling this re-pruchase authorization; they were also probably responsible for the extreme price decline in VCSI ($8.37 to $3.06 represents a 62% drop).

IF THIS IS THE CASE, the good news is that only 3.5 million dollars, or so, of company funds were expended, as opposed to 6, 7 million dollars had the price of VCSI held at its near 52 week high . I do like the way VCSI is holding up in this period just before the triple witching period The worst is behind us, I feel, and I am looking for forward to VCSI's 2d quarter results.

Good luck investing in VCSI.
