I've got some potentially dumb TA questions, but what they hay, this is TA for beginners so . . . .

1. I've always relied heavily on fundamentals in making buy/sell decisions, but have recently started to see the value of TA. Do most of you base your buy/sell decisions solely on TA, or on some combination of TA, fundamentals and/or general market strength?

2. Also, can anyone recommend a few of the simpler (and hopefully effective) TA indicators that I could cut my teeth on (as well as any tips you might have for them). I'd like to backtest and/or paper trade these as much as possible to help me understand their usefulness.

3. Over what time period do you find TA to be most effective? Are there certain indicators that are more effective short term and others that are more effective over a longer period?

4. Could anyone recommend a few "starter" books and/or web sites to help me get started?

Thanks in advance.

Dave~

Hello Sean,

I like to have the StochRSI (14) and the MACD (8-17-9) turn long at the same time! You really get some nice charts when you look for both of them..
