xDSL's multimedia role. A current Telecom Mag article.

An observation....

<<Unchallenged or not, DT's domestic infrastructure strengths are increasingly the envy of the operator world, where old, unserviceable plant is increasingly becoming a liability that competitive operators can ill-afford. To the wonder of many of its observers, DT is now in the process of rolling xDSL technologies nationwide -- a project that will give it the capability to push megabytes of data into homes and businesses without enormous additional expense. DT's ADSL abilities were tested in the North Rhine Westphalia region late last year, and the commercial rollout is being handled by Peter Kahl, DT's senior executive director for data communications and the man credited with the hugely successful introduction of ISDN in Germany.

"DT is the world's leading provider of broadband access and multimedia solutions," Kahl said. "Therefore it is only obvious that we will make every use of the potential for DSL in our network and it will also help us to tackle domestic and international competition." >>
