I ment that was the minimum standard they had to meet -- same thing... The discount brokers, for the most part, clear very fast because they use the mega-clearing firms -- odds are good that the trades crossed paths.

Looking back at my E*Trade confirmations, I can not find a single one that has taken less than the 3 day max. Pennies as well as big cap stocks. Can anyone substantiate this theory?

Maybe 1 day settlements are just for the Big Boys. They have every other advantage, why not this one as well?

Let's say the purchase deadline for the "split" was (sometime) last week. If you buy between now and the split date you'll have P's worth 35 commons each but won't the split adjusted price of each P be 33% lower than the day before the split? (Of course if the xdiv date has to be reset as some have suggested that's a different story.)
