American Tire Corporation Announces New
Equipment in Operation

RAVENNA, Ohio, June 3 /PRNewswire/ -- American Tire Corporation [OTC
BB:ATYR - news] announced it has now received its new advanced technology
mixing and pouring equipment to begin production of the new concept ''multiple
density'' flat free urethane non-pneumatic bicycle tire. Dr. Sid Asthana who has
been responsible for the development of this unique chemistry and establishing
the necessary fundamental processing conditions, says this new product will be
unique in its ability to provide the key desirable characteristics of the pneumatic
tire such as good rolling resistance and softness of ride, and maintain the good
characteristics of the non-pneumatic tire such as being flat free, maintenance
free, easy to mount and improved tread wear. Dr. Sid Asthana, who is the chief
chemist, and Roger Fleming, President and COO of American Tire Corporation,
indicated they expect to complete the check out of the new equipment with the
new chemistry by mid June 1998. Mr. Fleming and Mr. Steinke, who is Chairman
of the Board and CEO, also indicated that they expect the initial refinancing of
ATC to be completed by the end of June 1998 in time for the bicycle tire
production with this new technology. Additionally, American Tire Corporation
has filed for product patents covering this new technology, which provides a
high modulus elastomeric structure in the tire embodiment and which will act like
the belt of a radial tire producing rolling resistance substantially similar to the
pneumatic tire. American Tire Corporation's patent attorneys think that this
could be a fundamental patent in the bicycle tire industry. Marcy Janus,
Manager of Sales and Marketing, also has indicated that some Lawn and Garden
tires would also become available in June 1998.
