Paul,

Profits and AMD.....now that's an oxymoron if I ever heard one <gg>.

Re: Micron 400 MHz price drop

I have been deciding between Micron and the Gateway equivalent. Even with Micron's price drop, the Gateway is still about $150 cheaper for the configurations I am comparing, namely:

400 MHz
128M RAM
10G 7200 RPM HD
Basic sound with basic speaker
32X SCSI Plextor CD-ROM
2940UW Adaptec SCSI card
Permedia 8M APG graphics card
Tower case

All of this can be had for about $2550 from Gateway. The same system is about $2700 from Micron.....still I tend to like Micron just a tad better. I will be making a decision within a few days. Dell is out of the running because their case only has two large bays on the front and more importantly they refuse to sell a SCSI CD-ROM system without a SCSI HD which I don't need and don't want to pay extra for. I have dealt extensively with all three vendors both at home and at work. All three have excellent products and are good to due business with. Unfortunately, Dell always seems to be the least flexible.

Re: Merced delay

What's all the hoopla about....I thought no one needed anything more than a sub $500 PC these days anyway....<ggg>
