<Intel stated that they intend to compete in ALL PC market segments.>

An effective competitor in a market segment has focus . . .

Saying that they intend to compete in ALL segments means that,
while they are paying lip service to market segmentation, the
reality has not sunk in yet. Even a company with Intel's
resources cannot focus on everything and prevail everywhere.
Why? Because it competitors will be focusing on
specific segments. In military terms, you concentrate superior
force to knock off your enemies one at a time. You don't disperse
your forces everywhere, allowing your enemies to achieve locally
superior force and bleed you down to defeat.

Some analysts said the rebound in the influential technology sector may be short-lived.

''There's a bit of a 'dead cat bounce' going on,'' said Arnie Owen, managing director of capital
markets at Cruttenden Roth. ''But overall, it's fear and loathing in technology land. This is
selective buying as tech heads into the summer dead zone.''

Investors were reminded again of Asia's woes on Tuesday.

U.S. Treasury Secretary Robert Rubin said that the impact of Asia's financial crisis on U.S.
trade was starting to grow, but the effect on the economy as a whole was small.

Intel Corp. (INTC - news) pared its gains briefly midsession on news that the U.S. Federal
Trade Commission's top litigator has recommended that the commission sue Intel for alleged
antitrust violations, sources said. It closed up 1-1/4 at 69-1/4.
