I would'nt consider the succes of those trades attributed to being "lucky".

If you bought and held, you would only have paper losses with
the high probability of recovery due to the strength of the
underlying company (Dell). What you did was take "real"
losses. Now you need real gains to offset them.

Stop losses are a very bad strategy most of the time unless your initiating a long position in a company with poor fundamentals and prospects... why would anybody take a position like that???<gg>. Peter Lynch outlines some compelling reasons why stop losses are
counterproductive in "One Up on WS".

When you find yourself in a hole, stop digging.
