"Pray tell, what is the difference between that and what large institutional investors do on the big board? "

There isn't a lot of difference as I see it, large institutional investors are what makes stocks "move" on the big board!! We can do the same thing on "the little board"...just in a shorter period of time. Same profits on a stock from .20 to 2.00, as from $20 to $200, but with our collective strength, won't take near as long to get there!!!

It levels the playing field. The small investor as a group is gaining ground towards potentially equal footing if they are part of a cohesive group.
