Tero, Is Bluetooth about a standard for infrared communications between phones, and between phones and peripherals or PC's.?How much memory do these Nokia phones have i.e. what length fax can be stored for printing?I guess this would be useful if you're traveling as long as you could use the printer at your hotel or wherever. What is this GSM card? Is it something one buys separately, or does it come with the phone? As you know I frequent the QCOM thread as well and dont't agree with a lot of the things you believe about that co as well as the future prospects of CDMA, nontheless Nokia is clearly a great co.Hopefully for Q shareholders, it will fare as well as Nokia. You might be right that in five years there will inly be three or four players. Who do you think they'll be?As I said once before I think it's too early to count Mot out. They have huge resources, and they've turned themselves around more than once. The fact that their stock has not done worse is testimony to their brand name. Lu is clearly goiung to be a major if not the dominant infrastructure supplier worldwide.ERICY will survive as well. Sony's not going to stop making handsetsnor will Samsung, although I really don't know a thing about them. We'll know over the next 2-3 yrs whether QCOM will survive. I'm not sure yo're correct about whether it matters that much if one is first to mkt. Look at Apple. MSFT is never first to mkt.In fact QCOM was "first to mkt" with CDMA. ERICY is behaving like MSFT in this regard.I think that in the long run, at least in the handset bus, manufacturing prowess will be more important than anything else. As I think you correctly pointed, PC's are a good example of this.Infrastructure is another story I would imagine. Vast sums are being spent, experience and relationships must be very important. This is where QCOM has a hard time, not because they are difficult or arrogant, but because they are a relatively young and small upstart. If Gregg is in fact correct that there will be a compromise on a harmonized standard, and G* is a technical sucess, then they definitely have a fighting chance.Nokia has clearly been smarter than ERICY with respect to CDMAone. I think I agree with Gregg P. that you're perspective is overly Eurocentric and it's not because I live in the US..There's no question that Eurpoeans have had a headstart in the digital wireless arena and have not suffered the mkt melee we're experiencing in the US, but I can tell you that in NYC where I live digital phones are proliferating at an eyepopping rate.GSM phones are a small portion of the phones I see.I beleive Europe is the most mature mobile mkt,and therefore offers the least growth potential or am I mistaken about this? I could go on but this probably belongs on the QC thread. I assume you're over there jousting because there's not that much happening over here, other than Nokia making lots of dough... Sorry about all the typos but I'm using a very old Mac with a B&W monitor and Netscaope 2. for a few days and editing is a hassle. Dave
