That is what people say, but I am not sure.

I think the company was not communicating at all around a year ago. I think anaylsts were projecting without benefit of a lot of guidance. When I talked to IR at that time, they told me that they do not comment on analyst projections. That has sure changed. I think it was due to lack of experience as a public company.

Now were they guiding the analysts? In HMAR's first warning press release (I think 6 months ago) in addition the the warning they said that this press release was a one time deal, by issuing this press release it does not imply that they are obligated to issue press releases in the future should the company see that they may miss analyst estimates. That bit of legalese was quite incredible. That led me to think that they were not close to the analysts.

Now I do not want a company too close to the analysts. I am quite pleased that they communicate problems via press release and not by whispering to analysts.

I think they now guide the analysts more closely. Quite directly when that make statements in the CC they they are comfortable with this or that, it moves the estimates.

So did they miss their numbers? Perhaps -- but I think there is a chance that they failed to guide the analsyts or to set reasonable expectations -- a rookie mistake.

Last qtrs warning was a legit warning due to low utilization. Mgmt deserves the black mark for that one.
