Musicland's business was very strong in May. This is a good indication of strong consumer demand for CDs and DVDs.

Musicland's May Comp Sales Up 9.3%

MINNEAPOLIS, June 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Musicland Stores Corporation (NYSE: MLG) today said companywide comparable-store sales rose 9.3 percent for the four weeks ended May 30, 1998. The Mall Stores Division (Sam Goody/ Musicland and Suncoast Motion Picture Company) posted a comparable-store sales increase of 12.2 percent; comparable-store sales for the Superstores Division (Media Play and On Cue) rose 4.1 percent.

Jack W. Eugster, chairman and chief executive officer, said, "The popularity of DVD continued to increase in May, with DVD sales continuing to be over 10 percent of total video sales. On the music side, the new box set from Garth Brooks and the soundtrack to City of Angels were the best sellers in May."

The company's total sales for the four-week period increased 7.1 percent to $109.4 million compared to $102.2 million for the four-week period ended May 31, 1997.

Total sales for the Mall Stores Division in May increased 9.1 percent to $73.1 million versus $67.0 million last May.

In May total sales for the Superstores Division increased 4.0 percent to $35.7 million compared to $34.3 million last May.

For the 21 weeks ended May 30, 1998, Musicland's comparable-store sales increased 9.8 percent; total sales increased 6.8 percent to $614.7 million from $575.5 million in the same period last year.

Toolex International Sells DVD Manufacturing Facilities To U.S. Customers For A Total Of US$ 45 Million

EINDHOVEN, The Netherlands--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 3, 1998-- Toolex International N.V. (Nasdaq:TLXAF, AEX:TLXAF.AS), a company incorporated in the Netherlands, has signed agreements with two U.S.-based CD-companies, APS Entertainment Inc. and Video Audio Technology 3000 Inc. (VAT 3000), to provide them with complete and turnkey DVD-manufacturing facilities. The agreements represent a total value of US$ 45 million.

APS Entertainment Inc.

APS Entertainment, based in Hollywood and Ontario, has selected Toolex International as its preferred supplier for turnkey DVD manufacturing facilities. Toolex International has signed a US$ 40 million contract with APS Entertainment to provide multiple DVD5, DVD10 and DVD9 production lines, mastering equipment, test equipment and utilities to support the equipment. These facilities will enable APS Entertainment to offer full service solutions for DVD products including authoring, mastering, replication, printing, packaging, warehousing and distribution. With its new and state-of-the-art DVD manufacturing plant, APS Entertainment will be able to produce more than 5 million DVD units per month.

Video Audio Technology 3000 Inc. (VAT 3000)

VAT 3000, based in Los Angeles, has also chosen Toolex International as its partner for providing a turnkey DVD manufacturing facility. Toolex International has signed a US$ 5 million contract with VAT 3000 for providing (pre-) mastering and replication equipment for VAT 3000's new facility in Los Angeles that will be opened on September 1st 1998. The new DVD production facility will enable VAT 3000 to offer DVD solutions including in-house studio's, authoring, pre-mastering, mastering and replication of all necessary DVD services, including the delivery of DVD9 products.

Davenport & Co. have an office (base?) in Charlottesville,Va. so not surprising they are well aware of Nimbus.
Local Charlottesville paper article features introductin of Divx in Richmond. States "If sales are successful, Divx will mean big business for Nimbus which recently signed a five-year agreement to produce millions of the disposable video discs."
