Your judicial submission idea is probably the driving factor given DOCS strategic deal with Microsoft re this last fall. I found it interesting that I looked at a data sheet on this product from DOCS web site last week. Isn't this just a new (updated) version of a previous product?

There is an article in the Globe and Mail today on Knowledge Management being the in thing. Mentions it being pushed by the mgt consultant types, best selling books and the newly created positions of "Chief Knowledge Officer". OTXT (LiveLink) mentioned as supplier for Trans Canada Pipe. No mention of any other vendors.

I agree with you - selling to smallish firms is more difficult. Smart integrators will make the lack of IT skill availability part of the pitch. A small firm won't have much in the way of IT - a good DMS implementation can actually reduce the amount of IT time required. No file systems to maintain.

Functionality like INSO multiple document format viewing is a plus - almost every firm has to deal with multiple formats these days.

Smaller firms that are heavily specialised might be good targets (litigation for sure).

Since they have good penetration in this market I chalk this up to wanting to fully dominiate this area. No reason why they shouldn't be able to. They just need to make sure the general market stops perceiving them as being focussed on legal market exlusively.

Michael,

This marketplace always fascinated me. The potential has to be huge. If the app is a good one this could be a nice niche.
