The Real Story on the UK !!!

I did some more investigation and was able to come up with the following -

Identix is still the VERY SOLID leader in the UK. IDX has teamed with Morpho to supply the AFR consortium with TP600 livescanners. Morpho is running the AFIS out of Seattle. The AFR Consortium represents a majority of the almost 40 local constabularies which have banded together to establish their own AFIS, rather than waiting on TRW. The AFR appears to be calling the shots about which livescanner they buy. The consortium may also incorporate palmscanners into their AFIS.

TRW's selection of DBII means that they have a decent chance at supplying the small number of remaining constabularies. (This appears to be the reason that DBII's press release didn't include any numbers.)

You know, David, if you really think about it, TRW has historically made a mess of computer operations. It's really an auto parts company. See "Ask the Analyst" at WBN-IDX for response to a reader question wbn.com and comment.
