Once in 96 I had a conversation with the CEO of a small tech firm. This tech firm was being clobbered in a general sell-off such as now.I asked if he had considered a buyback. In a sincerely frustrated tone his reply was basically "what for ? " Invest more money in a stock - that also wont be rewarded but rather punished. I felt he made a good point - It is simply a market period of great value created by chasing out weak ownership.

Tech stocks are far better off reinvesting to insure future market leadership. When the equipment cycle returns their margins are such ,that an excellent reward will be generatedAt that point in time , our big concern will be saddling, our out of control greed ,that screams HIGHER :-)
