Glenn,
Uncertainty always creates panic.
Right now the Sprint announcement has caught everyone off guard, but it remains to be seen how much of this is hype.
Furthermore its likely that the local carriers will resist Sprint as this will cut into their networking business.
They control the lines, which is the principal reason that ADSL has gotten such a slow start. They don't want their T1 business canibalized.

<Larry,

I agree with you. Hmmm..I wish I knew why the panic selling.

Glenn>

Glenn, I was here last year when the same thing happened almost at the same time. The panic selling then was due to, well, panic. There were concerns then that ADTN was eating PAIRs lunch but it turned out to be no true. In July, after earnings (which they missed by a penny by the way) the stock rose from 15ish to over 30. I believe the selling we are seeing here is blind panic, get me out at any cost selling. I for one am holding. If I have to ride the ship down to the bottom, so be it. But all that said it STILL doesn't help the pain in my stomach.
