Pat, the thread has been quite all day. We had a nice reentry opportunity (I used it) and I think that we are probably not going to see lower prices in the next few weeks, actually we might even challenge the 20 zone this time and take it out. The pessimism in the SEMI equip. and the barrage of negative news is so thick, all we need now is a BTB ratio just under .8 to ignite a very nice summer rally IMHO. Zeev

Note that the increase in value of posh Tokyo real-estate seems to be linked to U.S. companies trolling for bargains. Reading between the lines of the posted article, it seems that little impetus for the mini real estate recovery is coming from within Japan itself. I think it's part of a long-term trend: U.S. and European companies taking over the world economy. As Japan's 7 year decline and the implosion of the "Asian Tigers" suggests, the "Asian work ethic", at least insofar as it applies to national economic success stories, is just a bunch of bull. These countries should go back to doing what they do best: building cars, stereos, and other gadgetry at a lower cost than American businesses are able to, due to our higher wages, which are in turn due to the fact that Western society is imbued with a higher overall level of empathy and respect for people's health, happiness, liberty and well-being (otherwise known as basic human decency). Indonesia is a perfect example of how autocratic societies which base their attempted economic expansions on the acquiescence of a docile workforce to Victorian-era working conditions and wages, under the leadership of a small contingent of utterly corrupt and ruthless fat cats, are destined to fail in their attempts to emulate the economic success of the U.S. and Europe. Our high living standards and world dominance in practically all spheres of human endeavor, including Art, Music, Economics, Science, Warfare, Politics, Religion, Philosophy, Literature, etc, etc, etc, couldn't possibly ever be emulated by societies in which wives are burned, children are starved, infanticide is routinely practiced, dissidents are tortured, minorities are persecuted, and dictators fluorish. Japan was basically an autocracy up until the end of world war II, when we civilized them. Most of the basic values of their society even today come straight out of their feudal era. Japan just doesn't qualify for membership in the exclusive Western club, however much they aspire to be a part of it. Same goes for China, all the little "Tigers", India, Pakistan, and any other Third World miscreants I've forgotten to mention. ......................... That felt good, you should try it sometime. Don't let all the little Political Correctness tyrants and other socially irresponsible liberal-types prevent you from having a good spleen-venting. Therapeutically and jingoistically yours, MP
