war of wills = a subtle assault. Any leader who can effectively recognize a "subtle assault" has a chance at reversing the consequences. A leader who expects to remain in full power should never dismiss the possibility of subtrefuge at any time. A true leader should be decisive in his execution of power... lest it be wrestled away from him. A sustained and relentless small series of attacks is equivalent to one large flank attack left undefended. Even a powerful hand has trouble squeezing an intact orange to pulp. Remove one small-chord and the entire remaining orange is weakened and vulnerable. Depleting an opponents morale before engaging in open conflict saves the valuable resources of the attacker. Assaults left unchecked continuously weaken internal morale and create damaging doubt and confusion. Building and leveraging morale extends ones strength considerably... while allowing morale to whither and become depleted is like sending half of one's troops home before a major battle begins. Some say education is expensive, but how costly is ignorance? The cost of my education was not knowing there is a collective group battling the self proclaimed "market mavens".
