new BEA Systems CORBA product

The documentation reads well. The vision is pretty sound. The material they have to work with may ultimately let them down, though, Tuxedo is a little too old and unsupple to turn into a really top class OTM.

BEA occupies much the same decision space at an enterprise level that Borland says they are headed for, which will be a challenge. You need to do something just a little special to beat a larger and more successful rival on their own turf.

My feeling is that INPR bought Visigenic so that in the future, when there is more competition, they can give away the CORBA tools in order to win the other business (MIDAS, Transaction Servers, Compilers (Java, Delphi, C++).

JBuilder, Delphi, and C++Builder is where the other CORBA companies will most likely fall short.
