Now "home grown" means designed, developed, and sold by AMD.
You know - done at home. Home means there at AMD, not from 3rd party fabless chip houses. The promise was for AMD to become a full service outfit - you know - like Intel - and perhaps pocket the deep profits from the chipset products.

Anyway I was just curious as this was a big deal back when.
