I have an account with DLJ and another with Etrade.
I have had a similar experience with DLJ -- feeling they are trading against me. Bought some THQI awhile back and they stuck me with the high price of the day. They do warn you that they make a market in the stock, but why shortchange their own clients? Other problems with DLJ I noticed: they often take 30 minutes to 1 hour to execute a BB trade (this is an eternity on a fast moving penny stock)! Plus, the commissions are terrible since they add 2 cents per share.

I have been impressed with Etrade's fast executions. They charge a flat $19.95 for BB trades and you can put in orders by phone. I've found that my trades will be executed before I even get off the phone.

Just my 2 cents worth,
Harry
