Steve,

It would kill me once to think of the possibility that NSM would be bought out by Japanese giants.

If NSM WAS bought by any of these Japanese giants, you could call it the end of U.S. x86 processor prosperity. With the superior x86 technology from Cyrix plus the manufacturing capacity and marketing strength, Intel stands no chance to maintain 20% market and profitable.

It is definitely great for users to have much better processors at much lower prices. However, it is very bad for U.S. economic. :((

Fuchi ... who loves Cyrix's innovations

Steve,

Although I believe that I was one of the first to suggest that NEC might buy NSM, I don't think that their intention to build SOC is any indication. Everyone that has a core of any type will be making SOC before long. NEC's risc core could be the basis for a wonderful low power SOC that could be used in all kinds of info appliances. Just my opinion.
