Risk of Russia crisis spreading, Rubin says

WASHINGTON, June 2 (Reuters) - U.S. Treasury Secretary Robert Rubin said on Tuesday there was a risk Russia's economic turmoil could spread to other countries if the situation was not stabilized.

''There is also the risk once again of contagion if Russia really has substantial instability and difficulties that can spread to central Europe and that can then spread further,'' he told a meeting of the President's Export Council.

Rubin said Treasury officials who had worked with Russia had told him they thought it had a ''very good reform government''.

''There's a very positive feeling about this government,'' he added.

"A person who is interested in gold is derisively called a "gold bug."
Is there a designation or title for a person who despises gold?"

A silver BUG, A currency BUG... A fixed asset allocation BUG. Let's call them BUGGY.

Psycho-somatic gold hysterics buggy

Just for consideration:
The currency fair value portion of GOLD places the commodity at $297.50/oz. For tuesday close. AKA gold should climb over the next three days.

WJH,

A person who is interested in gold is derisively called a "gold bug." Is there a designation or title for a person who despises gold?

There already exists a derisive term that could be "extended" for this purpose:

Paper Tiger - One that is seemingly dangerous and powerful but is in fact timid and weak.

In the proposed context, the term would mainly apply to a lover of fiat currencies, but could also apply, to a lesser extent, to debt with insufficient collateral, equities without any apparent assets, paper gold instruments not fully backed with physical gold, etc.

How about a 'FIAT SPIDER.' Woops, I forgot about that old car. Everyone thought at first is was great, but it always ended up on blocks in the garage...
