To take a moment to introduce myself, I've been an avid follower of this board for some months and an investor in LOR and GSTRF since 1991 and 1995, respectively. Starting last year, I've been putting more and more of my "eggs" into LOR. As the quality of the discussion over in the Yahoo board has dramatically declined in recent weeks and I occasionally like to post an observation or participate in an argument with reasonable people, I decided to join SI today. I'd like to thank Geoff for preparing a great unofficial FAQ and posting Readware's comments (I've missed seeing them lately BTW: has he stopped posting?) and many of the frequent posters here for interesting and usually wise commentary and useful links.

So, I wanted to jump in on the question of propagation delay of G* vs I+, because I don't see how a 1500 KM round trip distance difference is going to be noticeable to a phone user; it's only 5 msec! OTOH, an I+ fan should point out that some G* calls will be routed via GEO birds in addition to G*, whereas (if I understand Iridium correctly) all space routing is done exclusively on the LEO Iridium satellites.
