Brief: Industry leader, Cisco, had the right market cap for Tuesday's
buyers, and rebounded 2 7/8...

And what about 3Com?...
Having traded lower for most of the session, stock managed to finish
unchanged to close at key support (24) for the second day in a row...
HP's decision to cut hub prices by as much as 37%, however, was
certainly not the best of developments for this beleaguered networker
which has already been plagued by pricing pressures, and is down
31.3% YTD...


Bay Networks, a takeover candidate itself, rose 1 5/16 after
announcing that it is buying Netwave Technologies for $10 mln...
Netwave's wireless technology lets workers connect to corporate
computer networks without phone lines...

Newbridge Networks was another standout, gaining 1 1/2 ahead of its
Q4 earnings results...
After the close, company reported earnings in line with estimates
of $0.13 a share, but down from $0.16 in the yr-ago period.
