Monty, can you get that number for January 9th 98. That is the most recent day when the S&P closed below its 200 DMA

only the OTC had more new highs than lows
while the NAZ was up today you know with 52 to 203 it
was not on any real strenth..just a few nich players that popped
the index.
This is my kind of TA..things are relitive, and indexes can lie,
you have to compare and look at internals, to get away from the
foam and froth and knee jerk stuff.
