I probably should've waited for a third generation
(high-definition) system myself, Carter. But even the
second generation systems seem superb to me. The fact
that DISH so quickly lost 25% of it's already so small
value looks like a major over-reaction to the Echo-IV
problem to me. Already DISH has over 50 per cent of
COX's (one of the biggest cable broadcasters). COX's
revenues are flat (hardly increasing), yet COX is valued
at 11.5 Billion dollars, whereas DISH is valued at 340
million. In the upcoming quarter, DISH will really
start to get cash-flow--they have a wonderful distribution
system.

Thanks Carter,
Appreciate the info about the product. I've managed to speak
to several dealers as well as end users about the HM DSR100 to
date. Had'nt heard the one about the fan yet though. Anyway I
decided to go with the 5000 system. The recent price drop was
all the motivation I needed. As for recording, I'll still be
checking into DVHS models as they appear. To date the pickings
are still slim. Recordable DVD would really be nice.
For now, $280 for a DISH 5000 sounded like a buy.
Glad to hear you also got satisfaction!
Regards,
Bret P
