What can you do to eliminate MTBE? August/September 1997 (Volume 25, Number 6) Santa Clara Libertarian by Bob Gough ..maybe we should tell them about MIDL? What can you do to expose the MTBE dangers while at the pump filling up your tank with MTBE gasoline? You can spend this idle time sticking a free official looking MTBE warning label on the gasoline pump at eye level. All future visitors at the pump will know about the dangers to their health, their pocket book, and their automobile. You should check with the station attendant before using the stickers. The Sticker reads: MTBE WARNING! All gasoline dispensed from this pump contains the additive MTBE at an additional cost of 10 cents per gallon. MTBE is a cancer causing chemical. MTBE reduces gas mileage up to 10% and may result in damage to engine connecting hoses and gaskets. Do not inhale fumes while refueling. For MTBE data sheet call California Air Resources Board at 1-800-922-7349. The above official looking bright yellow and black glossy self sticking warning label is available free.
