Gottfried,

I think you've hit the nail on the head (poor nail). The Internet is the latest killer. Bandwidth is a compelling issue. However, televisions and the Internet have something in common as entertainment (a few more clicks on the remote control for the Internet).

Bandwidth issues are still here for television broadcast entertainment but are being overcome with data compression. DBS, digital cable and digital TV all require data compression. The Internet can offer the same video and sound as digital TV but with much more potential interactivity and variety. Of course Internet bandwidth will have to be increased to reach this potential. However, the current generation of sub-1000 PC's will not have the horsepower to handle the digital streams. A P5-166 is not going to cut it. DSL and maybe cable modem access will spread over the next couple of years (increasing bandwidth). It's going to be interesting to see what kind of Internet content starts to become available. I am pretty sure that it's going to require computer upgrades to view it.
