Greg - "record performance" - what changed since they did the same benchmark? A newer version of Oracle (which I hinted would dramatically improve performance quite a while ago), and 6.5 becoming better both probably contributed quite a bit to the improvement. I'm sure there were others, but those are probably the biggest factors, IMO. -justinb

I don't see what's so great about these numbers. The numbers I see are just a little better than a Pentium Pro System (DG) and a and are not as good (per processor or $ per QphD) as the Sun system. Company (QppD) ($per QphD) #CPUs QppD/CPU Oracle System type SGI 1573.2 $793 8 196.6 8.0.4 Origin2000 SUN 1178.6 $472 4 294.65 8 Ultra Enterprise DG 1135.7 $679 6 189.28 8.0.4 AV 6600 I would extrapolate from this data that a 8 processor 200 Mhz Pentium Pro system would be faster than a Origin and cheaper..
