Re: Tellabs to buy Ciena

That's a surprise; I thought CSCO would take them.

Maybe CSCO will now buy FIBR with petty cash. Par will probably do us a favor and ask for $20/share for his holdings, and $0.20/share for everyone else's positions.

Wally,

Consolidation in the Telecom & Networking equipment suppliers has
just started!

Again, the next wave is to provide multi-MBits bandwidth into
homes and businesses as we have already started to see. Data and
multi-media network equipment providers and telecom equipment
providers have started to merge to provide a complete solution
to RBOCs and others. The target market is huge.

According to Bloomberg or CNBC (can't recall now), Bay Networks
and Fore Systems could be the next target for acquisitions.

Another Telecom Analyst on CNN fn pointed out that the consolidation
could eventually result into 3-5 major players :

Northern Telecom
Lucent Technologies
Cisco
Alcatel
1-2 others.

Interestingly enough, he pointed out that Tellabs itself could be
a target for acquisition by one of them like Cisco..

What does it mean for Osicom? Not sure? However, it does seem
like that we might not need to wait for consistent positive
earnings from Osicom.. It might get just bought out if their
Metro-DWDM technology works! As the telecom analyst said: TIME TO
MARKET and GRABBING MARKET SHARE is what each major player is
currently after!

Let's just hope that Fore Systems and Osicom partnership
continues to grow.. May be, we would know better next week at
the SUPERCOMM event.
