Theological discourse...nothing heavy here. Worswick: Your discussion with respect to India seems to revolve around 3 things. 1)Sankar Acharya. 2)BJP 3)Hindu Nationalism Very interesting indeed. BJP- If you wonder why an erstwhile obscure party BJP is now the largest party in India, let me try to give you my take on it. 1)People just got tired of the corrupt and inept rule of the Congress party. They pretty much run the country down the drain while managing to fill their Swiss accounts with the ill gotten gains. They say Switzerland is pretty safe and their loot will fit nicely with the Stolen Nazi gold in Swiss banks. 2)Religious chicanery. I don't know you know this but the Hindus,Bhuddists or Sikhs seldom tried to convert anybody into their religion unlike some of the others we know including the Muslims and Christian. You don't see any Hindu or Bhuddist walking around converting people do you???? Pardon me I forgot about them Hare Krishans, well they don't count, don't think they are really Hindus, probably some misguided hippies from the West. Anyway in recent times Muslims and Christians in particular have been doing a number on the poor, illiterate and unsuspecting Hindus by converting them into their religion en mass by giving them a few kilos of rice and promise of eternal life and glory.Well you know the modus operandi of the Christian missionaries don't you?? They come in hordes with their cameras, take picture of the poor souls and come back home and raise money from other unsuspecting brethren.Keep most of it in their pocket and come back to India with a few dollars and buy them Hindus some rice and convert them, nice gig if you can get it. The Jeffersons of the North East. I don't know you know this but most of the people in northeastern states of India are Christians now. Would you believe the erstwhile Rams, and Shivas are suddenly Geroge Jefforsons, Harold Wilsons and Winston Churchills, holy cow! I think the BJP and many others resent this and they consider this as an attack and invasion of their culture.I believe the thinking in some quarters is that if someone wants to convert to another religion on their own it is acceptable but massive conversion by chicanery is not. The AMWAY like marketing of Christianity and Islam is certainly met with suspicion. You don't see may religious marketers in Arab nations do you??? If they allowed it,oh my, the whole Arab world will be full of 'holy rollers' and they all would have been speaking in 'tounges' instead of Arabic. Look at Korea,my god half of them now are Christians now, pretty soon they will be all speaking English and demanding U.S statehood.Proably the next one to follow will be Japan. They tried in Hong Kong, well half of them in Hong Kong are Lincon Chens and Echo Changs,my god,but the Chinese put a stop that didn't they. Now if China becomes a deomocracy anytime soon, I hope they all become Julie Chans, and Bob Fungs,,god have mercy if this happens,I am sure many are waiting in wings to jump on the conversion band wagon. You know got to convert all them barbarians and heathens. "historical background': Are you assuming we don't know any history??? I hope not.You Indians are not even "Indians"...you are the genetic sum total of successive invaders. and you are genetic sum total of what???? adam & eve???<VBG> come on worswick give give us break, jeeeeesus. India's security needs. Well I think we better leave that up to the Indians to decide particularly the military and the government,I suspect they are more aware of the security needs of the country than you and I don't you think? Or should they govern by world consensus???What are you saying??? Say what is with you and Sankar, he might be a facist,BJP or whatever and might not agree with you,so what??? You don't want everyone thinking alike do you???At the end you tell me a single secular state in the 20th century that has become a succesful religious state. Please don't tell me that the Indian constitutiion guarantees.... Who is talking about a theocracy not the Indians,it is the Western media who keeps pounding on this idea,I guess it makes it sensational journalism.Besides even if somebody tried it,it wouldn't work in India for very obvious reasons. If they wanted theocracy they could have had it 50 years ago. Well that is enough my diatribe as they say in Hindi 'phir milenkay worswick' or as they say in English 'see ya'. [PS: by the way I do not belong to any of the following group: BJP,Hindu,Christian,Muslim or Socialist,Communist,Republican,Democrat Atheist,Agnost. Matter of fact hell I don't know what I am, or should I go along with Popeye and say 'I am what I am'???]
