Alan,

I saw 25K on the bid for a while. Largest size I have ever seen supporting her.

The rest of you are sure getting your undies in a bunch over McData. Did you think Brocade would be our only competition? If/when this party gets started, there will be plenty of buisness to go around. McData has been around quite a while, it is about time they stopped putting McDressing on Brocade's switch and sell their own.

Steve

Alan,

Strictly on a FWIW TA basis:

My trading software fired a buy on ANCR on 5/29 with same day confirmation from the RSI [Wilder's] and Stochastic oscillators, followed by MACD on 6/1. It has pretty decent at calling reversals.

Neil

Check out IBM hardware announcement on June 2/98 entitled:
"Statement of General Direction". Specifically, here are some tidbits from the announcement..

" IBM plans to expand the connectivity options between storage and servers. These new storage area network based solutions will include industry standard FIBRE CHANNEL technology. IBM's Seascape based solutions, including the new IBM Versatile Storage Server and IBM Magstar tape family, are planned to connect to these solutions."

" General availability dates will be provided as storage area network products are announced."

" IBM intends to provide a broad array of storage area network based solutions, including FIBRE CHANNEL bridges, hubs, switches, and native adapters. These solutions would enable customers to protect their significant investments in IBM storage area technology while realizing the benefits of storage area networks. These include greater distances between servers and storage, improved sharing of storage devices, and greater throughput for many applications. IBM intends to connect the IBM Versatile Storage Server to one of the first of these Fibre Channel based storage area network solutions..."

I don't have a web link to this announcement since I retrieved the announcement from a downloaded Adobe Acrobat file. Feel free to surf the IBM website and post the link in order to read the entire announcement. I have no idea of Ancor or Brocade or both will get some business here. The good news is that IBM's endorsement of Fibre Channel will accelerate FC market adoption.
