Thanks for the helpful post on litho companies. I've about decided the sector is close enough to the bottom for practical purposes and am about to "step up to the plate". Both ASM and Cymer are possibilities for me -- UTEK is a little iffy for my taste, as I think there are enormous gains to be made on fairly safe investments here.

I wonder if the expressed preference at Taiwan foundries for Nikon/Canon might be strongly influenced by non-technical considerations, especially the presence of debt (or future credit) relationships with Japanese banks. The big Japanese banks are in deep water right now -- they are badly going to want to see $T flowing to their customers rather than some gaijin in the Netherlands.
