****NEWS RELEASE**** 17 per cent of phase 1 drilling completed at South Voisey Bay Northern Abitibi Mining Corp NAI Shares issued 22,799,405 Jun 12 close $0.46 Fri 12 Jun 98 News Release Also Latitude Minerals Corp (LTU) Also NDT Ventures Ltd (NDE) Also Major General Resources Ltd (MGJ) Also Donner Minerals Ltd (DML) Ms. Barbara O'Neill reports Donner Minerals has provided Northern Abitibi with the first in a series of periodic progress updates on the South Voisey Bay project. Donner, as the project operator, is conducting, together with its joint venture partners, up to a $14.8-million, two phase exploration program. Phase 1 will consist of gravity and electromagnetic surveys along with 22,150m of diamond drilling budgeted at $9.2-million. Phase 2, which is contingent on phase 1 results, will consist of up to an additional 22,150m of diamond drilling for $5.6-million. Three drill rigs are operating under the field supervision of Teck Exploration which is acting as general contractor during the 1998 season. Two drill rigs are following up 1997 massive sulphide intersections in the North Gabbro and one drill rig is operating in the South Gabbro. To date, 3,794m of phase 1 drilling has been completed on the South Voisey Bay project. Further details of the drilling are provided in the table below. Test surface and downhole electromagnetic programs are under way and additional electromagnetic surveys and detailed and regional gravity surveys will begin shortly. Drilling is testing geophysical conductors and areas in proximity to the massive sulphide intersections discovered in 1997 in the North Gabbro. Various geophysical surveys are being tested with the objective of selecting a deep penetrating electromagnetic system which will be able to guide the diamond drilling. The 1998 South Voisey Bay program is in its early stages. The geological model is essentially identical to that which hosts world class base metal deposits at Voisey's Bay. The continuing diamond drill program is designed to locate massive sulphide accumulations at the base of the gabbro, feeder zones containing massive sulphides and massive sulphides within the underlying gneisses. Drilling is continuing with three drill rigs to explore these targets and further develop the geological model. Drill rigs will be moved regularly throughout the South Voisey Bay project in accordance with the logistics of the exploration program and with the objective of advancing the overall program.
