TT,

I was teasing Patrick. I didnt see who started it.

For the record I tend to side right in the middle..

I agree that immigration is what made the country great, but in extreme cases, it really harms the country too. California is a great example of this. People that intentionally enter the country to gain off the efforts of people that work hard to sustain this great place really tick me off.

I have no aversion to hard working individuals. I say instead of dwelling on immigration, why not dwell on what segment is causing a decline in our standard of living? Lazy, untruthful people wether immigrants or any are what bug me. Lets get rid of people that are mooching off the hard work of the majority of the population. That included 10 generation lazy asses too..lol

As for the talk about respect to the gvmt, I cant say what any other person ought to do, I respect it, but it is free will that is the basis of the constitution, so I have to respect others rights.

TT I hope you werent thinking I felt you were at all hostile, you seem to be like me, it takes a truck load to make you mad. I have no opinion as to who was rude, I like all of you.. even the hecklers that taunt from the attic and runaway.. well maybe not everyone..lol

I have read and re-read my response and
certainly don't see anything that I said that could be deemed to constitute "trashing" the
country.

YOU STILL DONT GET IT

STILL

where did I say you were trashing the country

WHERE???

I said if you did
I would say to you
go someplace else where you feel it is better
why be in a place you abhor
no matter how long you have been in this country
(well the answer to the why would be because you want to use it for anything and everything you can get out of it)

and I dont feel that someone who has an unbridled dislike for this country should be allowed to take advantage of it
give someone else the opportunity...

PERIOD

so if I see someone make the kind of commment that Ratan did about Pakistan about the US
I would say get the hell out of here then if that is the way you feel and
go to the country you feel is so much better.

and I would say that about ANY country..which is why I gave you the Germany and Turkey analogy....

and if that makes me an Arrogant IGNORANT American
I dont care

I have seen too much crap go on with immigrants and immigration to just roll over and say trash America all you want and use it for all you can get...

<When some of us began protesting the Vietnam War years ago...>

I was thinking of that earlier. The '50s were a different time in this country, the "Eisenhower coffee break" I remember the older people called it.

National pride, some isolationism....then the war created a chasm between the old and the young. With, of course, those young people who were of a different mindset (more 50s oriented, I guess) and were at 6s and 7s with those of us who were beset with ideological problems and anguish over it. I don't think any of us really wanted friction between us. After all, the "coffee break" united us as a family....the war turned us into the Hatfields and McCoys.

Since then, a third mindset seems to have prevailed. A sort of desire for the community that existed in the 50s but better, more accommodating to everyone not just people in their own ghettoes.

The environment socially is certainly changing albeit slowly, and I for one think it's been for the better over the years.

Most importantly, what do you think Parcells will do with the Jets this Autumn?
