Tim, the TLAB/CIEN thing is bittersweet for me. There's a pretty cool guy on the CIEN thread that I've been hootin' and hollerin' with for like a year. I refused to buy CIEN cause I thought they were too little to survive, went with TLAB instead. This guy went with both arguing to me that TLAB would most likely buy CIEN. I said, nahhh, Lucent's gonna smash CIEN. blah, blah, blah. Anyway, this guy's crystal ball was pretty cool cause he's getting 'my' TLAB at a discount equal of course to the premium they're paying for CIEN. But what does this have to do with the Mighty Q?
Well the ONLY part of tero, tora, tora that gets me a little ornery is the notion that the Q's plate is pretty damn full, another way of saying are they big enough to go it alone? I think the spin-off is one way of the Q recognizing this. But with the dizzying developments in telecom, I still think the Q might find itself in the cross-hairs of some monster, a la CIEN. We'll see (probably by this afternoon :) Mike Doyle
