That is an interesting question. CSCO does not compete with TLAB
on any existing product line as far as I know. I done think it
should be a problem. CSCO might want a closer alliance as they
need to represent themselves as more than just a networking company.
They currently lack any significant exposure on the voice side .
It would increase CSCO's product line. The cable
telephony market for voice is growing too and TLAB
has a product there.

Cable companies are trying to become alternatives to the telcos
for business customers in voice and internet access. A CSCO/TLAB
alliance might add value as they could offer a more diverse offering.
TLAB's for the voice and CSCO for the data.

I will have to look at this more closely.

judy,

csco has been talking to LU & NT for alliance for months but the talk with LU fell apart after 3 months discussion going no where, not surprisingly.

chamber said they still pursuit the talk with NT and hope they will eventually bring something out. Not read anywhere alliance with TLAB.

now TLAB would compete with LU head to head in CIEN's area.
