I did see Portrait of a Lady. I agree, I hated Malkovich. He excels at playing that type of part. Similar to his Dangerous Liasons role, except more sinister. I think men hate him in a different way than women do. He's that deflowerer, that guy who took your girlfriend's virginity, who you could tell was a sleaze, your girlfriend could tell was a sleaze, but slept with anyway because of that dangerous attraction. Basically, we're a bit jealous...thinking that if only we, too had no conscience, we'd be in control.

I loved Wings of the Dove. Saw it twice in the theatre. My top movie of the year.

And although I thought L.A. Confidential was great, (most fun I've had watching a movie in a long time), what the heck did Kim Basinger win the Oscar for? She was barely in the movie, and had virtually no dialog.
