Two years ago Siemens did their demonstrations at CEBIT using Amati modems. I would like to know if they are now using Orckits. If so this would be a BIG deal for Orckits future business. Anybody on this thread going to be at Supercom?

[csco/sprint/fujitsu]

hi 9r,

>>Tell-us it ain't so, s... <<

guess i kinda feel like roy hobbs:

"...he wanted to say it wasn't, but couldn't, and he lifted his hands to his face and wept many bitter tears." ... :) ...

can't say i think the register is going to be ringing soon from sprint... but you never know... :) ... (dt's the one to watch)

really don't know what to make of the sprint "news"... basically sounds like an aggressive rollout of next generation technology (with a healthy dose of smoke-and-mirrors) with csco in the driver's seat...

along those lines... my first take is that csco has the inside track for xdsl with sprint... the "existing copper" delivery stuff featured... has to be dsl and it does sound a lot like adsl/vdsl... and those sonet references could sound like fujitsu... (don't think csco does sonet?).. :)

just noticed the fujitsu/csco agreement... can't believe i had missed it... could be interesting to watch in the longer term... interesting implications.. (tho this could be further evidence of my an orckit-behind-every-tree delusions..)

"Fujitsu and Cisco Sign Global Systems Integrator Agreement

...Fujitsu and Cisco also agreed to cooperate in securing interoperability between both companies' network management software. And they will investigate directions for future collaboration, including closer links between products; cooperation in networking and multimedia technology; the expansion of networked computing; and the formulation of standards... "
fujitsu.co.jp

guess the bottom line in my mind is that csco has the inside track with sprint... but there's a lot going on behind the scenes and orctf/fujitsu could well be involved in the bigger picture/ longer term ... suspect that for next generation xdsl, fiber/xdsl in the neighborhood will be critical and orctf/fujitsu have been working on that integration for some time... and this does not exactly seem to be csco's strength..

and whaddya think... does shoeless joe deserve a break... ?

see ya
