Notes from Piper Jaffray Inc about pairgain's dslam product.

Received research note from pairgain's investor relations for piper jaffray dated 5/20/98 and the following is quoted from the report.

"We expect Pairgain to announce its new DSLAM products over the course of the next couple of months. We had been anticipating announcements at Supercomm(june 9-11), but we do not believe the company will announce the products until it can talk about customer wins-the exact timing of which is uncertain. Ultimately, we expect these products to drive Megabit access sales of $25 million in 1999 versus $7 million in 1998-achievable with one RBOC win. The two significant opportunities in the near term are US West(which could be announced this quarter) and Bell Atlantic (probably in the September quarter)."

The most interesting thing is that they think US West and Bell Atlantic could be pairgain dslam customers. I thought US West went with cisco and netspeed while, Bell Atlantic went with Westell and another company. I wonder if all these early contract announcements are not exclusives and that pairgain has a very good chance of taking some of these contracts away from westell, alcatel, and cisco ?

OFF TOPIC:

After the price drop earlier this week I think all the psychos, idiots, and fearmongers descended onto the various pairgain threads (SI and Yahoo) and started spewing so much crap, that I should have just shutdown my cputer and walked away for a day or two. I could not believe the posts by people who were obviously short and by people who didn't have a clue what pairgain's market is about. Good luck to the long investors only!!!! I have nothing against an investor who shorts a stock, but I dislike those who lie to support there short position.
